Advanced AI Course: AI and Documents – Finding stories in the pile

This session explores how AI can support core reporting skills when working with documents, transcripts and background material. You’ll look at practical ways to use NotebookLM and Pinpoint, with a focus on maintaining editorial control while working more efficiently. The session will be led by Clare Spencer, Reporter for Generative AI in the Newsroom, Northwestern University, USA.

In this session you will learn to:

  • Find tip-offs from large volumes of documents, especially when you are not sure what you are looking for

  • Retrieve quotes from your own interviews and search across your archive

  • See examples of newsrooms that have published their notebooks

This session will be recorded with links to the video and supporting documentation emailed to all participants on the Friday following the session.
