Become a Mentor
Become a Mentor
Women in Journalism’s mentoring scheme is made possible by senior women across the industry who volunteer their time to support other journalists. Each year, around 75 senior journalists act as mentors, offering one-to-one guidance to women working across all platforms and career stages in the UK.
How the Mentorship Scheme Works
Mentors are matched with a mentee for one year and are asked to meet four times, online or in person. Some choose to meet more frequently, but the level of commitment is agreed between mentor and mentee. You do not need to be a member of Women in Journalism to become a mentor.
Applications for mentees open on 1 November and close on 1 December 2026. We will contact mentors in mid-December if we are able to make a suitable match based on experience and interests.
If you have any questions, contact mentoring@womeninjournalism.co.uk.
