The Women in Journalism awards recognise excellence across the full breadth of modern journalism, with winners drawn from different media, disciplines and backgrounds. They reflect a range of education and career paths, as well as strong regional representation.

Lifetime Achievement Award

This award honours an outstanding and inspiring journalist who has paved the way for others and influenced generations across all media. It is awarded to a journalist whose contribution has helped shape the profession itself.

Awarded journalists whose work has set the agenda and driven national conversation. They may have broken major stories, changed the course of public debate, campaigned for accountability or shone a light on the importance of a free press. Working across any media platform, their journalism demonstrates courage, dedication and rigorous reporting, and has made a clear and lasting impact.

For her investigation into the author of the best selling book The Salt Path and her podcasts the Gas Man and Lucky Boy.

Jackie Long, Social Affairs Editor and Presenter, Channel 4 News
For her work on the crisis-hit prison system

Sirin Kale and Lucy Osborne, Investigations Correspondents, The Guardian
For their investigation into Noel Clarke and the subsequent legal case.

Rising Star Award

Recognising a young journalist who is already making her mark and is clearly destined to go further. This award celebrates the talent and ambition of a new generation at a time when journalism faces unprecedented challenges. Working in any area of media, she inspires not only those coming up behind her, but also those who have gone before. The winner will be aged 35 or under.

Malak Tantish, reporter formerly based in Gaza, The Guardian
Over 18 months, she reported with extraordinary courage on daily life under siege delivering vital journalism under the most extreme conditions.

Mollie Simpson, Investigative Reporter, The Mill
For her major investigation into the University of Greater Manchester which resulted in a police investigation.

The Barbara Taylor Bradford Trailblazer Award

This award recognises a journalist who has built influence beyond a single newsroom, using multiple platforms and initiatives to extend the reach and impact of her work. She may have combined journalism with creative, charitable or business ventures, creating a distinctive voice and broadening her audience.
