Mentoring Scheme Q&A

Thinking of applying to the Women in Journalism mentoring scheme?

Whether you’re wondering if the scheme is right for you, want to know how the application process works or are looking for tips on submitting a strong application, this is the perfect opportunity to ask your questions.

When: Tuesday 27 October, 7pm

Where: Online via Zoom

This event is free to attend and open to all.

Join Amanda Nunn, Head of Mentoring at Women in Journalism, as she explains how this year’s mentoring scheme works, what makes a strong application and answers your questions.

She’ll be joined by Augusta Anthony, who took part in the scheme last year and will share her experience as a mentee and a mentor.

Now in its 10th year, the Women in Journalism mentoring scheme is the longest-running mentoring programme for journalists in the UK and has matched more than 800 women journalists with experienced mentors from across the industry. Last year alone, we paired 75 mentees with 75 mentors, helping women at every stage of their careers gain practical advice, build confidence and take the next step in their careers.

During the session we’ll cover:

  • Who the mentoring scheme is for and what you can expect from taking part
  • How the application and matching process works, and what makes a strong application
  • Your questions about eligibility, time commitment and getting the most from the scheme
