Women in the News: Does Sex Change the Way a Newspaper Thinks? - July 2nd, 1996

When women make the news, what does the news make of them? That is the question the Women in Journalim's Research Committee set out to examine. But as with any question to do with news values in general, this is not as straightforward as it seems. When does coverage that aims to be hard-hitting cross over into sexism? When does reasonable opinion become skewed by the sex of the subject?
