Yvonne Ridley, a founder member of WIJ, would like to compile a list of female journalists who would be able to contribute to the news and discussion shows on Press TV which launched in July 2007.
The TV is an english language, global news satellite channel (with plans to get on the Sky platform shortly) and is funded from Iran.
Presenters include myself and a few more familiar names including Tim Llewellyn, Alan Hart, Phil Rees, Robert Fox, Michael Dobbs, Andrew Gilligan, Martin Short and Amina Taylor.
Guest appearances have been made by British government ministers, past and present, peers, politicians from around the world reflecting a myriad of views, academics, authors, journalists, publicists, actors, campaigners, environmentalists and feminists.
I am disappointed by the lack of WIJ members on our guest panels, especially Between The Headlines which is a newspaper review show broadcast live, seven days a week from our studios in London, W5 at around 7.30pm. Other shows focus on politics, Middle East, international and European; cinema, book reviews and lifestyles.
Press TV pays full travel expenses for those coming from outside London, and provides transport for those living in the London area plus a disturbance fee of £100 is paid to each guest for their time.
Can you please send me your contact details and area of expertise. I want to see more women journalists on the channel who want a chance to take part in interesting discussions regardless of their political beliefs, faith or no faith or background. If you need more information contact me by email on hermosh@aol.com
Thanks!
Yvonne
